Who Volunteers
Anyone over the age of sixteen can volunteer!
Business executives, students, secretaries, doctors, lawyers, real estate professionals, police
officers, homemakers, politicians, bankers, and journalists all pitch in to help
build a better community! Skilled tradespeople are always in demand.
We draw thousands of carpenters, plumbers, electricians,
roofers, and people with other skills
donating their time each year.

What We Do

One day each year, we gather volunteers from all walks of life, ages and ethnic backgrounds to join forces.
Armed with truckloads of materials these volunteers paint, repair and renovate homes and shelters.
The goal of RenewSA is to encourage volunteering at the local level and
to stimulate increased local activity to aid the low-income, elderly and
disabled homeowner. Since 1994 over 1,000 homes have received free home repairs
with the help of almost 13,500 community volunteers.

Who We Help
Low-income, disabled or elderly people who cannot maintain their homes are eligible for our services.
Additionally, community shelters are also eligible. All work is performed free of charge.
The homeowners, if they are able, work with volunteers in the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor.
There are five million elderly, low-income homeowners in America.
The majority are women and more than one-third live alone.
Some spend over 40% of their income on housing expenditures, 22% are defined as “housing poor”.
The RenewSA volunteers fill a desperate need in our community.
